The Seagull and the Sandwich

An eye-opening picnic at the beach for Elle provides lessons on being aware of one’s surroundings for both her and her counterpart. Join Ms. Abi and local author and artist, Wes Hanson, as we bring to life his story with original paintings created for the book. Afterward, take a special look inside where works by our FestivalArtist, Ellen Langford, are displayed.
Presented with support from Forrest County, Lamar County, Landry, Kitchens, and Germany Architects, Coca-Cola, and Mississippi Tank Company
About Wes Hanson
Wes was born in New Orleans and raised on the north shore. After catching the theatre bug in high school, he studied it at LSU and was involved in all aspects of production. After college, he married Debbie and moved to Los Angeles to work in entertainment. From Six Flags to the Hollywood Bowl, to on-location shoots and museums all over the place, he worked. Eventually, he became a shop instructor at Art Center College of Design before returning closer to home, in Hattiesburg and USM. He worked all over the city in addition to the job and is now retired. These days, he is content with writing and illustrating offbeat stories while doing only the occasional set construction gig.
